World Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2012: Crossing Boundaries

Abstract

  • Proceedings of World Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2012: Crossing Boundaries, held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, May 20-24, 2012. Sponsored by the Environmental and Water Resources Institute of ASCE.

This collection contains 395 papers reflecting current research and practice in the world of environmental and water resources engineering, with a special focus on managing water across local and national boundaries. The theme of crossing boundaries is explored in papers on the Rio Grande River, transboundary groundwater issues, interbasin transfers, and international impacts of climate change.Special sessions examine the recently refurbished Panama Canal and the resiliency of the Gulf Coast.

Papers from six symposia are included in this collection: 10th Symposium on Groundwater Hydrology Quality and Management; Ninth Urban Watershed Management Symposium; G.V. Loganathan Memorial Operations Management Symposium; Hydro-Climate Symposium; Water Distribution Systems Analysis; and Water Systems Planning under Climate Change.

Topics also include education and research; emerging and innovative technologies; environmental engineering; history and heritage; hydraulics and waterways; international issues; irrigation and drainage; planning and management; scour at bridges; stream restoration in arid and semi-arid environments; sustainability; water, wastewater, and stormwater; and watersheds.
