Accessibility, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion

Diversity is an integral part of developing a fully encompassing body of technical literature and research. The complete accuracy of data will always rely on the inclusion of skills, expertise, and perceptions garnered from marginalized groups such as women; members of the LGBTQIA+ community; people with disabilities; Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC); and others. ASCE Publications condemns all forms of racism and prejudice, including hate speech. These ideals only serve to cause harm, which is the antithesis to ASCE's unwavering mission to lead the civil engineering profession to sustainably advance and protect the health, safety, and welfare of all.

ASCE Library is committed to ensuring digital accessibility to the widest possible audience.

We follow guidelines that explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, which makes the website more user friendly for all users. Although we strive to provide a website in compliance with the latest accessibility guidelines and standards, it is not always possible to do so in all areas of the website. To support this commitment, the ASCE Library endeavors to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level A compliance with the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI).

We acknowledge that our industry is not immune to these wrongs. In the technical publishing field, identity-based aggressions, prejudice, harassments, and systemic discrimination harm people and harm the profession.

We also acknowledge that words are not enough. We intend for this page to reflect our living commitment to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in publishing, documenting our aspirations and actions.
