Assessment of Worker Management Capacity and Coping Strategies in China’s Construction Industry in Consideration of the COVID-19 Pandemic

ABSTRACT

With the general trend of global epidemic normalization, the epidemic management of construction workers has become an important part of construction management for the construction industry with high mobility. Although countries have introduced corresponding control measures and methods, there is still a relative gap in the study of the effectiveness and impact of these control measures. In order to solve this problem, the study conducted a data survey and collection of Chinese construction workers in the form of structured questionnaires, and analyzed 1,281 responses using the improved principal component analysis method, so as to establish an evaluation model related to the management of construction workers during the pandemic and calculate the weight of various factors affecting the management of construction workers during the epidemic. The results showed that the ability of construction workers to cope with the pandemic needs to be improved, and the knowledge of vaccination, psychological factors, frequency of going out, regular nucleic acid detection, and regular disinfection of work and living environment have a great impact on the management of the pandemic of construction workers. This study highlights the important role of vaccination and regular nucleic acid testing during the pandemic. It is recommended to take measures to improve the management of construction workers in construction units during the epidemic.
