Abstract
The performance of ignition coils is an important and complicated consideration of automotive power system. The goal of this paper is to analyze the effect of technological parameters on the ignition energy with the help of ignition coils performance simulation model. Based on electric circuit analysis and magnetic circuit analysis, the model is built to calculate ignition current, spark time and ignition energy, and predict the tendency of ignition energy with the variations of the technological parameters such as coil turns, wire diameter and the length of iron core. Experiments show that the relative errors of simulation results are less than 5%, which indicates the validity and rationality of the method.
