ABSTRACT
Mixed traffic including human-driven vehicles (HV) and autonomous vehicles (AV) may be imminent. Differences in HV drivers’ trust attitudes toward AV will lead to variability in their driving behavior. Since subjective trust is difficult to express through mathematical models, and few studies have taken this into account. This paper conducted an online survey on respondents’ driving behavior when following AV and trust level in different scenarios. The significant influencing factors of trust level were analyzed. The results indicate that the trust level varies with personal and contextual attributes. The quantitative model for trust level was constructed using fuzzy logic. Its effectiveness was verified by comparing survey results with calculation results. This paper provides insights for studying vehicle interactions and the heterogeneity of HV drivers in human-machine mixed traffic flow.
