ABSTRACT

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, travel behaviors have been affected by the epidemic prevention and control policies. As the main type of cities in China, the small city accounts for 64.6%. About 502 valid questionnaires were collected at Xuchang in January 2022. Based on statistical data, the disaggregate model is chosen to analyze effects of individual attributes, travel attributes, and perceived risk perceptions on the mode choice of short distance travel. Results showed that the following factors, such as income, car ownership, occupation, travel time, and distance, remained the same as in the pre-pandemic study. What’s different during the pandemic was that age had little effect on travel choice. Residents had low trust in the bus, and women prefer electric bicycles. People who are more risk conscious or do not own cars tended to travel less.
