The Calculation of the Capacity of Bus Bay Based on Gap Acceptance Theory
Publication: CICTP 2023
ABSTRACT
Most researchers use traditional formulation to calculate capacity, but with the rapid change of traffic conditions, the former formulation does not apply. This paper analyzes the clearance time and the calculation method of failure rate based on the M/M/C queuing model. Moreover, the paper provides the calculation of the capacity of a bus bay with the trajectory of bus movement, considering the probability of queuing, the dwell time distribution, and waiting time. Based on gap acceptance theory, the model of the bus waiting time to return to the lane can be developed. Finally, the formula is calculated, and the model is verified using VISSIM.
