ABSTRACT
In order to analyze the impact of green wave optimization on the traffic environment, the changes in road capacity and delays before and after green wave optimization were compared, and typical pollutant emissions from vehicles before and after green wave timing were calculated using MOVES software to estimate the energy-saving and emissions reduction effects of traffic control. The results show that CO2 is reduced by 1,383 kg, CO by 9,737 g, HC by 973 g, NOx by 1,590 g, and VOC by 760 g after the optimization of the morning peak hour signal before and after the green wave signal setting at two intersections of Yingbin Street and Yongtai South Road and Yingbin Street and Yuhe West Road in Datong city, which proves that the coordinated control of green wave not only can improve the traffic operation in the mainstream direction but also facilitate the control of road vehicle pollutant emissions.
