ABSTRACT
With the rapid growth of urban motor vehicle ownership, parking difficulties and increased carbon emissions have emerged in many cities. Parking is an important part of the transportation system, and reducing carbon emissions during the parking process has become an important topic. This paper focuses on reducing carbon emissions in the parking process and aims to propose a parking space arrangement method which considering lower carbon emissions. First the size and number of parking spaces of different parking methods are studied, and the carbon emissions generated by different parking processes are analyzed. For nine different parking space layouts, the number of parking spaces and carbon emissions were calculated. The results show that the combined parking space can achieve the optimal balance between parking space and carbon emissions.
