ABSTRACT
We analyzed the applicability of SSAM (Surrogate Safety Assessment Model) model with TTC in China to study the conflict characteristics of interchange diversion connection and discussed the advantages of DRAC. We calibrated the DRAC for Chinese drivers representing the conflict severity based on normal deceleration observation and emergency braking test of vehicles on freeway general sections, interchange exits and entrances, and toll booths. The paper simulates the length of different deceleration lanes and the number of lanes in connection section, obtains the traffic conflict characteristics corresponding to different connection of interchange, and guides the geometric design of the interchange connection.
