ABSTRACT
Thousands of miles of pipe serve the Houston metropolitan area to millions of customers. As Houston has faced a number of challenges, pipeline management requirements tend to exceed available resources. Therefore, the City has implemented a risk-based decision strategy to assure maximum effectiveness of resources and be resilient to ever changing community needs. The City leverages multiple smart technologies providing near real-time data streams to an enterprise communication platform conveying information to City management. This presentation will provide both quantitative and qualitative insight into applied technology in response to this year’s ASCE pipelines conference theme: Resiliency in infrastructure.
