Analysis on the Settlement Characteristics of Lateral Displacement on the Soft-Soil Road Bed

Abstract
This paper deduces the formula, which can accurately calculate settlement composed of lateral displacement based on the constant volume method model for lateral displacement of the embankment settlement. Using this formula to Lan-Xu highway measured for 1 year of settlement and lateral displacement observation data calculation result shows that the deformation of road embankment includes vertical settlement and lateral displacement virtually in the period of construction;the lateral displacement of the settlement accounts for about 20% of the total settlement; the lateral displacement settlement is not instantaneous; the process can continue for a long time;in the settlement model subsidence prediction, full consideration should be given of lateral displacement.
