Gray Evaluation of Safety by Traffic Conflict Technique at Intersections

Publication: ICTIS 2011: Multimodal Approach to Sustained Transportation System Development: Information, Technology, Implementation

Abstract

Because of the certain defects in traditional methods on evaluating intersections, this paper applies the typical method that is combined with traffic conflict and grey clustering. It induces the ratio, which is between traffic conflict and mixed traffic equivalence during morning peak hours, evening peak hours and common hours, and is chosen as the evaluation indices according to the use of the traffic technique. Then the method is used to evaluate the safety condition of 8 intersections in Liuzhou city. The outcome shows the result and the practical situation are consistent, which proves that the present method is feasible. Finally, the improvement measures of intersection safety were put forward.
