Factor Analysis on VRU Safety in Beijing
Publication: ICTIS 2011: Multimodal Approach to Sustained Transportation System Development: Information, Technology, Implementation
Abstract
In the low and middle income countries including China, the majority of such deaths and injuries are among "vulnerable road users" (VRUs) — pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists. In this paper, we mainly focus on the safety of pedestrians and bicyclists in crossing the street. This paper studied the four main crossing places. The four places include: 1) near the intersection, 2) grade intersection, 3) The intersection within one of imports is three-dimensional form of crossing, 4) near the bus stop. The survey summarizes the main factors that lead to the traffic crash from road users' behavior, safety measurements, traffic channeling and so on .In order to reduce conflicts and improve the safety of vulnerable road users, it provided improvement countermeasures.
