A Two-Phase Mapping Approach of Dynamic Traffic Information Integration

Publication: ICCTP 2010: Integrated Transportation Systems: Green, Intelligent, Reliable

Abstract

The inconsistency of road network description makes it difficult to integrate dynamic traffic information with GIS information on a website. To solve the problem, this paper introduces a two-phase mapping approach to integrate dynamic traffic information with route planning results on a GIS map via Internet. As an intermediary, a logical structure of road network is built; it is independent of physical road network. Then both dynamic traffic information and GIS information are mapped to the intermediary road network. By using the method, a system is implemented that provides dynamic traffic information on a website for the travelers in Beijing.
