Abstract
The inspection and assessment are necessary because it can provide the necessary scientific foundation for the maintenance, rehabilitation and technical reconstruction of existing suspension bridges. Most stiffening girders of suspension bridges are steel truss girders or steel box girders. The safety evaluation of steel beams is to evaluate the ultimate state of the structure so as to avoid disastrous accidents during serving. In this paper, through field investigation of the defects and static and dynamic load tests of the bridge, combined with the finite element analysis, a safety evaluation method is developed and adopted to evaluate the load-carrying capacity of the Qingcheng suspension bridge. In the procedure the coefficient of considering load-carrying capacity and effect of fatigue and rust of the steel is adopted. The evaluation method of this paper can provide reference for safety evaluation and reinforcement construction of existing suspension bridges.
