Backtracking Algorithms for Implementation of Railway Crew Schedule

Abstract
Crew schedule is one of the most primitive schedules for transportation organization. Practical railway crew schedule programming is a multi-objective and large-scale combination optimization item. With constantly improved speed of train, appearance of longest locomotive routing and shorter crew operation time, crew pooling system has been an inevitable tendency of railway crew development. Based on crew pooling system, the essay analyzes work flow, business request of railway crew schedule and difficulty to achieve it. Backtracking algorithm is selected and corresponding mathematic model has been established. Specific algorithm to get feasible solutions has been designed and the criteria to search optimum solution has been discussed.
