Abstract
In this paper, we study the basic network compartmentalization method and data fusion procedure with GIS technology. With the help of Micro-Simulation tools, we provide a new method to estimate traffic state on the road network which is based on GPS vehicle positioning data and geographic information system data. Finally, we validate the method by using the data from real world and draw the conclusions that the model present in this paper can provide finer levels of resolution and better accuracy in estimating travel time and speed of the network.
