Research on Train Density of Passenger Dedicated Line
Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2007
Abstract
Reasonable train density is an important means of improving the service quality of railway passenger traffic and attracting passengers in China. The paper defined the conception and classification of train density of passenger dedicated line, and analyzed correlative factors such as passenger flow volume and distribution, capacity restriction, train formation and economic benefit. Then, it constructed train density optimal model, with multi-objective optimization model for passengers' satisfaction as well as for the benefit of the railway enterprise. This model optimizes train density through compromising the two contradictory aspects: the maximum benefit for railway enterprise and the minimum waiting time for passengers. In model, the length of waiting time is regarded as opportunity cost. The entire modeling process, calculation methods of objective function and the constraint conditions' each element are illustrated. And a solving process for the optimal model is presented in the paper.
