Transportation Planning Model Aid Design System

Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2007

Abstract

The Transportation Planning Model Aid Design System (TPMADS) is designed sand programmed: based on Client/Server model, the traditional transportation planning software is re-programmed and the interface between planning software and traffic database is designed, the dynamic traffic data and static planning model was integrated. Complicated models and arithmetic of traffic planning software are included in the server and the non-professional modelers can carry out the quick operations through inputting key parameters in the client and the model compute results can be expressed in special template chart and table in the client's GIS platform. The modeler can calibrate the planning model parameters using the dynamic data and improve the model precision. At last, using VISUM software, a practical example which has been realized in the project of Shenzhen Urban Traffic Simulation System (SUTSS) is given and field results indicate that the TPMADS can improve the transportation planning modeling process effectively and efficiently.
