Decision Optimization of Pavement Maintenance Management for Regional Expressway Network
Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2007
Abstract
With the combination of dynamic planning and Markov decision planning, the Markov Decision Planning (MDP) model for optimization of pavement maintenance fund assignment is established. The model is proposed aiming at Pavement Maintenance and Management (PMM) decision for regional expressway network. In this paper, two types of decision models are put forward. One is the financial planning model with the restriction of maintenance quality, which is to minimize the maintenance funds. The other is the project planning model with the restriction of maintenance funds, which is to maximize the maintenance quality. According to the present situation of expressway maintenance and management, the decision optimization of PMM for regional expressway network in Sichuan province is studied as a case.
