The paper is stated in 5 paragraphs: (1) A brief introduction on development of electrified railway worldwide; (2) The evolution of China's railway electrification during various periods (1961–2005); (3) Advantage and benefit of electrified railway: (a) Advantage, (b) Traffic capacity increased, (c) Stimulate high-speed line construction, (d) Heavy-haul train well-developed, (e) Promote the development of rolling-stock industry, (f) Enlarge international cooperation. (4) Prospect on development of railway electrification, (5) Conclusion.
