Abstract
Waterbus is a kind of new type traffic mode in many Chinese cities. Stated preference survey could be used for investigating the informant's decision behavior at an imaginary situation, which is better than other survey methods on traffic demand predicting and service level deciding for new type traffic mode such as waterbus. This paper takes the cases of Shanghai and Huai'an for example, analyses the application of stated preference survey and individual choice mode to waterbus system designing, points out that different stated preference survey methods will lead difference on modeling, traffic demand predicting and service level deciding, and introduces the process of using stated preference survey and SP-data. For the different survey methods there are different modes, and the results are also different, so it is important for obtaining correct and reasonable results to clear the intention of the survey and which part of the results is necessary.
