Abstract
The main research presented in this paper was to develop a new effective way for a modern container terminal management and its optimization. This paper designs a system architecture which is based on the multi-agent system technique for solving this complex problem. Firstly, with consideration of the characteristics of container terminal production, different types of agents are given. Then, design of the agent framework is also described. Next, agent communication mechanism is proposed in this paper. Finally, approaches of implementation for this multi-agent system are introduced. This paper brings us a new way for container terminal automation by building a distributed and self-controlling multi-agent system which adopts partial centralized control strategy.
