Simulation Research on Form and Kinematics Law of Contact Process for Automobile-Pedestrian Collision Based on the Coupling of PC-Crash and MADYMO

Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2007

Abstract

Based on the coupling of PC-Crash program and MADYMO software, the kinematics laws of pedestrian in the contact process for automobile-pedestrian collision are analyzed through modeling and simulation by establishing vehicle model and pedestrian model, and selecting main influencing factors on contact phase as independent variables for simulation tests, and moreover, the form characteristics and kinematics laws of pedestrian as well as corresponding impact speed thresholds in the contact phase under different collision circumstances are in depth researched. The comparisons between simulation results and real world automobile-pedestrian collisions under observation as well as crash tests results have shown that a perfect harmony and consistency of kinematics laws of pedestrian. The results in this paper will be of very important application value in China.
