Predicting the Truck Speed Based on Four Factors of Transportation Engineering: A Curvilinear Regression Model

Publication: International Conference on Transportation Engineering 2007

Abstract

The vehicle speed prediction is very important in both traffic engineering and logistics realm. This paper conducts a model predicting the truck maneuvering speed based on field data. In this model, four basic factors of transportation engineering, including driver, vehicle, road and environment, are considered to affect the speed of freight fleet. In this paper, some analyses have been presented which concern about variable sensitivity and their applications. The conclusion based on the model analysis can be applied to truck maneuvering speed forecast in modern logistics programming and traffic engineering.
