Abstract
One of the most difficult tasks in pavement management information systems is establishing the links between performance measures of a structure and the design and construction inputs. During the last two decades Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) has made significant steps in improving material properties, design practices, and monitoring of pavement performance. The current challenge is integrating these databases for effective pavement management, and performance-related design and construction specifications development. In order to fully understand the component of pavement performance and specify the inputs through specifications to achieve that performance we must develop quantitative relationship between input variables and response variables through a scientific, fully integrated system named pavement performance analysis system (PPAS). From such a perspective, this paper addresses the functional requirements of a PPAS and present the dimensional model in the context of data warehousing for developing a PPAS.
