Abstract

For planning of regional economy development, it's very important to analyze intensity of transport linkage between regions in China. Based on using O-D matrix data of railway freight transportation and building up the model of "intensity of railway freight transport linkage between regions in China", author of this paper calculated the intensity of railway freight transport linkage, analyzed the characteristics of railway freight transport linkage and expatiated the close degree and variety trend of economy relations between the regions. The findings showed (1) intensity of freight transportation linkage between regions had increased entirely and largely over the past 10 years in China; (2) the relation intensity in west region was at a comparative low level as a whole, but was increasing comparatively; (3) the intensity of transport linkage between the west and the east was far stronger than the middle and the west; (4) during conducting process of west development strategy, intensity of railway transport linkage between regions would keep a rapid increasing trend.
