Special Collection for UN SDG Goal 5: Gender Equality

The United Nations has recognized the vital role of women and the need for their full and equal participation and leadership in all areas of sustainable development. ASCE has long fostered the advancement of women in civil engineering, granting Elsie Eaves full membership in 1927, and electing their first female president in 2003. But the disparity in the engineering field continues with women only accounting for about 15% of the engineers in the United States.

ASCE is committed to publishing books and journals that support women in engineering and will help inform, develop, and inspire equality for all.
