Special Collection for UN SDG Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

Access to clean and safe water is critical to public health and economic prosperity. The 2021 ASCE Infrastructure Report Card gave the US drinking water infrastructure a C- score, reporting that there is a water main break every two minutes with an estimated 6 billion gallons of treated water lost each day. Utilities also face the increasing challenge of keeping pace with emerging contaminants such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), lead and copper in drinking water, and the regulatory requirements needed to remain in compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA).

This curated content from the ASCE Library contains key journal papers, books, and proceedings papers that address the United Nations Sustainability Development Goal #6 for Clean Water and Sanitation. ASCE is committed to publishing books and journals that will help inform, develop, and inspire sustainable practices.
