This special issue is on sustainability in engineering education. As is the nature of sustainability, the paper topics cover a vast range of issues, with a focus on educational application and research. The seven articles range in constituents from incoming students through various undergraduate levels, to graduate students. Modes of sustainability education also vary such as with internships, service learning, special topic modules, or fully integrated through the curriculum. In addition to the different pedagogical modes, student attitudes on sustainability have also been researched, especially the perceptions of various aspects of sustainability gained prior to their civil engineering education. It is our hope, that these case studies and research projects will aid others in incorporating sustainability into their programs seamlessly and effectively.
