In Table 2, the auto-correlation function for the spherical model was erroneous. The correct version is
Autocorrelation model | Correlation as a function of lag, | Frequency of usage (%) | |
---|---|---|---|
Markovian (single exponential) | 0.5 | 47 | |
Second-order Markov | 1.5 | 4 | |
Third-order Markov | 2.5 | New to geotechnical practice | |
Gaussian (squared exponential) | ∞ | 15 | |
Spherical | — | 9 | |
Cosine exponential | — | 10 | |
Binary noise | — | 15 |
Note: = scale of fluctuation; and = smoothness parameter that reduces the Whittle-Matérn model to a specific one-parameter autocorrelation model (e.g., produces the Markovian exponential model). Model name “third-order Markov” is coined by this paper.
The correct Table 2 is provided herein.
To preserve the published version of record, these details have been corrected only in this erratum.
