Abstract
The knowledge and skills needed by a sanitary engineer in that branch of his profession limited to the design, construction, and operation of works for the collection, treatment, and disposal of sewage and industrial wastes are outlined. The broad fields of science, mathematics, law, and economics involved in the application of learning to the practical art of one field of sanitary engineering are examined.
