Abstract
Views are given of the Vice Chairman of the Wisconsin Highway Commission based as a participant in the consideration of broad changes in public attitudes toward transportation. Several attitudes have been determined: (1) the only really important transportation for an individual is that which he uses; (2) as the individual's transportation considerations are highly personal, they are highly emotional; (3) because the considerations are highly personal and emotional, they are also egocentric; and (4) the individual who favors a proposal does not go far out of his way to express his support, but opponents speak up quickly. Out of the testing ground of today will come a total, balanced transportation system to serve our people well.
