Probabilistic Optimum Base Isolation of Structures

Publication: Journal of Structural Engineering
Volume 109, Issue 3

Abstract

The problem of the optimal base isolation system of multistory shear type buildings has been considered in a probabilistic sense. For white noise ground accelerations the response of the structure relative to the base was minimized subject to constraints on the maximum displacements of the base.
