Abstract

Cost of materials, fraudulent practices and kickbacks, and fluctuation of prices of materials are three of the most important factors, among other factors, leading to high construction costs in Nigeria. Analyses of results leading to high construction costs show excellent agreement between the responses of the professionals (architects, engineers, and quantity surveyors) and the results of past researchers, with a Kendell's coefficient (τ) of 0.002 and 0.001, and a chi‐square (χ2) of 6.60 and 4.06, respectively.
