Abstract

There is a growing interest among professional societies in getting into the information role of selling technology. Societies must take an active part of the responsibility for convincing the public that it needs a permanently strong technology. Technology is no longer taken for granted. Science for science sake is not a saleable commodity. Science is on trial. The hue and cry is that technology is using up our resources and destroying the environment. Yes, there was never a greater need for inputs of technology. Can we convey the message, for example, that the resource base of this nation and the world can change with time and technology—
