Critical Success Factors to Lean Construction Implementation: A Systematic Literature Review

ABSTRACT

Since 1990, lean construction (LC) has drawn many participants in the construction industry due to its innovative features that have been demonstrated in the industrial sector, resulting in a flurry of adoption and implementation. As is typical with new techniques, some factors facilitate and encourage their adoption. This study aims to discover and explain the overall critical factors for LC implementation, regardless of company size, specialization, or nation, from a theoretical perspective. Additionally, recommend future study directions on this topic. A systematic literature review was conducted to identify the critical factors (CFs) for LC implementation from previously published research. The CFs were identified and categorized into six major types: managerial, operational and technical, cultural and human, educational and knowledge, financial and contractual, and governmental. The dependability and correctness of the data acquired in earlier investigations are critical to the accuracy and consistency of this study.
