Component and Cladding Loads for Buildings with Mean Roof Heights ≤ 60 Feet

Abstract

This chapter provides examples for determining component and cladding (C&C) wind loads on buildings. Component and cladding loads for a typical commercial building with a flat roof are determined. The C&C design wind pressures for an L-shaped house with a gable and hip roof are determined. Then, the C&C design wind pressures for typical residential windows and doors are also determined. Design of the overhang is an important consideration in the development of C&C wind loads for elements of the overhang. Component and cladding wind pressures for a typical open storage building are determined. Component and cladding loads for a domed roof building are calculated. The pressures determined are limit state design pressures for strength design.
