ABSTRACT
High-frequency, single-day inter-city travels are closely associated with the development of urban agglomerations. However, the existing city public transportation system gives little consideration to these visitors, leading to poor transit accessibility for them. Previous studies on transit accessibility, based on questionnaire surveys, often suffer from small sampling sizes of respondents and the lack of traceability. This paper proposed a high-frequency, inter-city visitors identification method based on mobile phone data, and three methods for analyzing the intra-city transit accessibility of hub for them. Moreover, a case study in Shanghai, China, is given. It is found that the arrival times of visitors typically coincide with morning commuting rush hour, and their source provinces have a significant impact on the distribution of their intra-city travel destinations. The total travel time to the city center is generally low, while the transit convenience to the city center may be worse due to the morning rush.
