ABSTRACT
With China’s rapid economic development, people are enjoying large-scale events more frequently. Entering and leaving these large-scale events can impact spectators’ experience, and it is necessary to study the spectators’ selection behavior and to set up a reasonable dwell point. This paper investigated spectators’ entry and exit process at the international ski marathon at Harbin Volga Manor. A binary logit model was developed to study the spectators’ dwell point selection behavior. The model shows that the number of stays at each dwell point during arrival is greater than the number of stays at departure, and the size of the dwell point and its distance from the event site are significantly impacted by dwell point selection. It is helpful to disperse the flow of spectators by setting multiple passable paths. The conclusion provides a theoretical basis for predicting spectator dwell point selection behavior and for optimizing passenger flow organization.
