A Review of Trajectory Data and Its Application in Traffic Safety Research

ABSTRACT
Many studies in recent years have demonstrated that the application of trajectory data accompanying technological development is helpful to solve road safety issues. This paper presents a recent literature review that focuses on summarizing the following aspects: processing and basic properties of trajectory data; the application in traffic safety of trajectory data, which includes the conflict identification and analysis, the driving behavior in traditional vehicle scenarios, the safety evaluation of automatic vehicles and road safety; and the model developed in traffic safety research based on trajectory data. The problems faced in acquisition and application of trajectory data are finally discussed.
