Information Transmission Effect of Cloverleaf Interchange Signs Based on Patterns and Combinations
Publication: CICTP 2023
ABSTRACT
This paper studies the effect of different combinations of cloverleaf interchange signage on drivers’ information transmission. Nine experimental scenarios were set up with sign pattern type and combination method as experimental control factors. The driving simulation experiment was conducted by UC-Win/Road, and seven evaluation indexes were proposed: correctness rate, lane change awareness, speed change awareness, visual recognition time, early lane change distance, and subjective score. Combined with ANOVA and the Mann-Whitney U test, a factor analysis-based evaluation model of information transfer effectiveness was established. The results show that there are significant differences among the three groups of signs in advance lane change distance, visual recognition time, and C direction selection correct rate. The combined scores of the three groups of signs were −0.66, −0.22, and 0.83, respectively, with the arrow sign group having the worst information transfer effect and the mixed sign group having the best.
