Research on Fleet Assignment of Airlines in the Context of Carbon Trading

In the context of the aviation industry entering the carbon trading market, carbon emissions will become an important factor affecting the earnings of airlines. In airline planning, fleet assignment largely determines fuel consumption of each flight and then affects carbon emissions. This paper uses different methods to calculate the carbon emissions of different flight operational processes. The cost of carbon emissions to airlines is defined by combining carbon allowances creatively. Then, a multi-objective fleet assignment model aimed at higher profit and lower carbon emissions cost is established. To solve the model, a multi-objective fuzzy decision method is designed. Finally, the flight data of Juneyao Airlines is used for numerical experiments. The result shows that the model established in this paper can improve the operation profit and reduce the cost of carbon emissions at the same time.
