Research on Trip Characteristics of Metropolitan Fringe Towns Based on Multi-Source Data

ABSTRACT
With the acceleration of urbanization, inter-jurisdictional travel is becoming more and more common between metropolis and small towns in its fringe areas. In this study, firstly, researches on metropolitan fringe towns are reviewed. On this basis, an index system of trip characteristics is established and the acquisition methods are given by using multi-source data. Secondly, taking Beijing and Dachang County as examples, the feasibility is verified. The result shows: The average daily traffic of Dachang County is 695,000 times, of which 385,000 times cross the region; Rigid demands, like work commutes, is the main purpose of travel; The average inter-jurisdictional travel time is more than 1 hour and result in a bus share rate of only 4%; The traffic is concentrated on several main corridors, thus aggravate the traffic congestion.
