Design of Tower-Beam Thrust Device for Tower Anchorage Construction of Suspension Bridge

ABSTRACT
The temporary Tower Anchorage technology applied to the construction of self-anchored suspension bridges adds safety and efficiency and avoids the prominent problem of using traditional means to affect the existing traffic. The key temporary structure of this construction technology system, important to construction safety, is the tower-beam thrust device, which transfers the horizontal component of the main cables during the hoisting process of the main beams. This study proposes a safe and reliable design of the tower-beam thrust device and defines the applicable calculation method of PBL shear connectors. Taking a self-anchored suspension bridge as an engineering case, the tower-beam thrust device is designed according to the process flow, and the refined finite element model is established to analyze its mechanical properties. The results show that the mechanical properties of each component of the tower-beam thrust device meet the design requirements, which verifies the rationality and feasibility of its design.
