Study on the Length of Upstream Transition Section in Reconstruction and Expansion Area of Secondary Highway

Publication: CICTP 2021

ABSTRACT

The length of the upstream transition area in construction areas during highway reconstruction and expansion has an important impact on the operation of road traffic flow and the construction operation. The simulation model of the operation area is established by Vissim simulation software, and the impact of non-motor vehicles is taken into account. The average number of stops, average queue length, and average travel delay are used as evaluation indicators for the optimal length of the upstream transition area. A combination of analytic hierarchy processes and gray correlation method is used for multi-index evaluation. According to the evaluation results, the recommended value of the optimal length of the upstream transition area is obtained.
