Research on Surface Function of Rubber Asphalt Cape Seal

ABSTRACT

Surface functional damage problems such as reflective cracks often occur during the use of asphalt pavements. This paper combines micro-surface study with rubber asphalt cape seal to analyze surface functional characteristics. In the preliminary design of the mixture ratio at the micro-surface, a 7mm sieve was added between the 4.75mm-9mm sieve holes to better control gradation of large particles, and based on the water-stripping resistance of the micro-surface, the gradation is optimized for design, and the optimal gradation and gradation range for water-peeling resistance of the micro-surface are given. Rubber asphalt cape seal was systematically studied on anti-slipping performance, slip resistance, and low-temperature crack resistance. Results show that, when rubber asphalt cape seal is compared with rubber asphalt gravel seal, properties of the layer are significantly improved. The rubber asphalt cape seal also has good resistance to reflective cracks, which can extend the service life of the road surface.
