ABC-3D Using Geomatics to Merge the Surface with the Utility Underground
Publication: Pipelines 2020
ABSTRACT
Showing utilities in three-dimensional (3D) models has helped provide designers with valuable information on how to clear utility conflicts in transportation projects. Placing the realistic image of a utility feature into a 3D model helps provide scope detail for a replace in-kind relocation and what details need to be considered to clear a utility conflict. This helps to avoid schedule delays and/or scope misunderstanding that could lead to unforeseen utility relocation costs and overruns.
