Performance Evaluation of Waste Engine Oil Regenerated SBS Modified Bitumen

Publication: CICTP 2020

ABSTRACT

Waste engine oil was used to regenerate aged SBS modified bitumen by melt blending. The physical properties of waste engine oil regenerated SBS modified bitumen was evaluated by physical properties tests. The regeneration mechanism of waste engine oil on aged SBS modified bitumen was discussed by FTIR analysis. The results show that the waste engine oil shows a good regeneration effect on aged SBS modified bitumen, but excessive amounts of waste engine oil will adversely affect the physical properties of SBS modified bitumen. The proper amount of waste engine oil in the aged SBS modified bitumen is 10%∼12.5%.
